The Way I View – New Beginnings

This year I really want to challenge myself and grow as a photographer. So I’ve decided to do few different activities this year. One of the activities is to participate in a monthly challenge with the nice ladies on the Clickin Moms forum called, The way I view ____. Each month there is a theme and we are to post pictures of that theme in our blogs. Then we link to other participants blog so you can view their take on the monthly them.

January’s theme is New Beginnings. I really wanted to get up early one morning and take a picture of a sunrise or something like that, but I have a hard time dragging myself out of bed early on the weekends after going through of week of struggling to get to work at 6:30am. So I let that idea go.

Nothing says new beginnings like a new year. We spent New Years Eve with my husband’s family and friends from church. We had a good time and tired to make it back home before midnight. We barely made it. As you can see my two youngest daughters were totally knocked out.

So that’s the way I see new beginnings this month…

30 Days of Gratitude Days 30

Today is the last day of my 30 days of gratitude post. This was a pretty big commitment for me because I’m really busy and tired when I get home in the evenings, but I am really glad that I decided to make that commitment. There were a couple of times where I combined days but I’m still pretty proud of this small accomplishment.

The 30 days of gratitude forced me to think about something everyday that I am grateful for. Although I only posted one thing in each post, I could always come up with more. This gave me an opportunity to reflect on how truly blessed I am. I can always come up with things that are not right, that I don’t like, or how I want things to be different. Taking a moment everyday to really focus on what I am thankful and grateful for makes everything else seem small.

Through this exercise I looked at my situation compared to others and realized how much I have to be grateful for. I realize that no matter what my situation is, there is always someone who would love to be in my shoes.

I will end my 30 days of gratitude with a top 10 list:

I am grateful that Jesus died for our sins
I am grateful for my life health and strength (that’s what you always hear someone say it church but it is true)
I am grateful for my good husband who is loving caring and very supportive of my dreams and goals.
I am grateful for my children and their health. I am grateful that I do not have any serious problems with my children. (I know this is two things but I’m trying to stick with 10)
I am grateful for my parents and what they have done for me and how they raised me.
I am grateful for my grandma. She keeps my youngest daughter everyday and picks my middle daughter from school every Friday.
I am grateful for my brother and his love for me.
I am grateful for my friends and the friendship they give.
I am grateful for my job.
I am grateful for my neighbors.

My new challenge to myself is to take a moment at the end of everyday to think of one thing that I am grateful and thankful for and write it down in a gratitude journal. No matter how bad the day may have been there is always something to be grateful for.

For this post I chose a picture of my girls that I took this past Sunday. I was excited about how well it turned out because it was my first time using off camera flash. I got the card template from Ashe Design.

Six days of going to bed late, after 9:30 is late for me, has really started to catch up with me. I am thankful for rest and over sleeping I look forward to the weekend so I can sleep in late.

30 Days of Gratitude Day 28

I am thankful for my job. It may not be the best job in the world but it is a good job. I have been blessed with great managers and coworkers.

I don’t have a picture for today’s post, but I just wanted to share that fact. When I hear about stories of others and their job searches, I am just grateful to God that he has shown me and my family favor with steady employment.

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

And I am thankful that the Lord has blessed me to see another year. I had a really wonderful day today. My husband and girls serenaded me with the happy birthday song, we went out to breakfast and then we decorated the house for Christmas. I am truly blessed to have the family that I have.

30 Days of Gratitude Day 26

I really love my family. I love spending time with my children and doing things with them. I love their laughter when they are playing but I’m also thankful for quiet time to myself.

I had some time alone today and was able to get a lot done at home. I didn’t get everything done as I set out to do but I made great progress.

My picture today really doesn’t have anything to do with my post. It’s just a picture of some of my vegetables I grew in my garden this summer.

30 Days of Gratitude Days 24 & 25

I had a really good and busy day yesterday. We went to the Charlotte Thanksgiving Day Parade and came back hope to eat Thanksgiving dinner. I took a little nap before going to pick up my nieces and had a surprise visit from my mom and grandma. Then we went over my aunt’s house and got home pretty late. I didn’t take many pictures yesterday just a few of the parade.

Today I took my daughters, nieces and my little cousin to see Happy Feet 2. I’m happy and thankful that I kind of have the energy to do things like that with and for my girls. I grateful that my daughters have cousins close to their age because when I was growing up, I was the youngest cousin and was left behind a lot. I’m also grateful to have been able to have a thanks giving dinner with my family and spend time with them (which is something we should do more often).

We had a wonderful thanksgiving day yesterday and a really nice day today. It was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season.

I’ve been pretty busy today. I had my physical this morning and waited until today to do my shopping for our thanksgiving dinner. So this will be a short post today and a very old photo.

I’m thankful that my physical went well today. I’m also thankful that the crowds in the stores today were not too bad. I’m especially thankful for family and friends to share special moments with.

This photo captures a very special moment for me. It was my baby’s first birthday party. When everyone started singing happy birthday to her she had this strange look on her face like she was saying “What are you guys doing?” This was 3 years ago. Time really flies when you’re having fun.

I’m grateful for quiet happy moments when my girls are getting along. I’m grateful for this time of year when the Christmas programs start coming on. The Hallmark channel has started showing Christmas movies. Here my girls were watching The Night Before the Night Before Christmas. It was a really cute movie. I’m surprised that my oldest didn’t join us, but I guess that’s because she a teenager. She didn’t even join us when The Santa Clause came on. That’s one of her all time favorite Christmas movies. Even though she didn’t join us I was happy and grateful to capture this moment. It is a precious memory to capture and reflect on when my girls are older.

30 Days of Gratitude Day 21

As an aspiring photographer, I should always be ready with my camera because you never know what may be picture worthy. I usually don’t have my camera with me, especially since I told my husband he could have my camera bag (I’m planning on getting a new bag). However, when I was at my husbands job I just happened to have my camera with me and I captured this little squirrel eating from a bag of peanuts. When I saw him (I’m guessing it was a male) I ran to the other side of my car got my camera and was able to capture him still eating from the bag. The picture is not as clear as I would have liked but I was thankful to be able to capture what I did.
