The Way I View – New Beginnings

This year I really want to challenge myself and grow as a photographer.  So I’ve decided to do few different activities this year.  One of the activities is to participate in a monthly challenge with the nice ladies on the Clickin Moms forum called, The way I view ____.  Each month there is a theme and we are to post pictures of that theme in our blogs. Then we link to other participants blog so you can view their take on the monthly them.

January’s theme is New Beginnings.  I really wanted to get up early one morning and take a picture of a sunrise or something like that, but I have a hard time dragging myself out of bed early on the weekends after going through of week of struggling to get to work at 6:30am.  So I let that idea go.

Nothing says new beginnings like a new year.  We spent New Years Eve with my husband’s family and friends from church.  We had a good time and tired to make it back home before midnight.  We barely made it.  As you can see my two youngest daughters were totally knocked out.

So that’s the way I see new beginnings this month…

Please go over to check Lisa J’s blog’s to see how she see’s new beginnings this month, and don’t forget to come back next month.

30 Days of Gratitude Days 30

Today is the last day of my 30 days of gratitude post.  This was a pretty big commitment for me because I’m really busy and tired when I get home in the evenings, but I am really glad that I decided to make that commitment.  There were a couple of times where I combined days but I’m still pretty proud of this small accomplishment.

The 30 days of gratitude forced me to think about something everyday that I am grateful for.  Although I only posted one thing in each post, I could always come up with more.  This gave me an opportunity to reflect on how truly blessed I am.  I can always come up with things that are not right, that I don’t like, or how I want things to be different.  Taking a moment everyday to really focus on what I am thankful and grateful for makes everything else seem small.

Through this exercise I looked at my situation compared to others and realized how much I have to be grateful for.  I realize that no matter what my situation is, there is always someone who would love to be in my shoes.

I will end my 30 days of gratitude with a top 10 list:

  1. I am grateful that Jesus died for our sins
  2. I am grateful for my life health and strength (that’s what you always hear someone say it church but it is true)
  3. I am grateful for my good husband who is loving caring and very supportive of my dreams and goals.
  4. I am grateful for my children and their health.  I am grateful that I do not have any serious problems with my children. (I know this is two things but I’m trying to stick with 10)
  5. I am grateful for my parents and what they have done for me and how they raised me.
  6. I am grateful for my grandma. She keeps my youngest daughter everyday and picks my middle daughter from school every Friday.
  7. I am grateful for my brother and his love for me.
  8. I am grateful for my friends and the friendship they give.
  9. I am grateful for my job.
  10. I am grateful for my neighbors.

My new challenge to myself is to take a moment at the end of everyday to think of one thing that I am grateful and thankful for and write it down in a gratitude journal.  No matter how bad the day may have been there is always something to be grateful for.

For this post I chose a picture of my girls that I took this past Sunday.  I was excited about how well it turned out because it was my first time using off camera flash.  I got the card template from Ashe Design.

30 Days of Gratitude Day 22

I’m grateful for quiet happy moments when my girls are getting along.  I’m grateful for this time of year when the Christmas programs start coming on.  The Hallmark channel has started showing Christmas movies.  Here my girls were watching The Night Before the Night Before Christmas.  It was a really cute movie.  I’m surprised that my oldest didn’t join us, but I guess that’s because she a teenager.  She didn’t even join us when The Santa Clause came on.  That’s one of her all time favorite Christmas movies. Even though she didn’t join us I was happy and grateful to capture this moment.  It is a precious memory to capture and reflect on when my girls are older.

I love candy.  Especially retro candy like nerds, sweet tarts, lemon heads, sprees.  Yummy!!!! I’m always grateful when my husband thinks about me and brings home a big boxy of my favorite candy.  To me it’s like getting roses and chocolates.

30 Days of Gratitude Day 7

What would I do if I couldn’t see.  What if I couldn’t see my husband, my girls, all of the beautiful sights of God’s creation.  Or what if I was color blind and could only see shades and could not see all of the beautiful colors in the world?  I’m very blessed to have my sight and today I’m thankful for it.  Even though I’m hating the sight of my dirty room, I’m thankful that I am able to see it.  I’m thankful that I’m able to see all of the vibrant colors around me like the pictures of the hot air balloons below.  We went to the hot air balloon festival last month.  The balloons were very pretty especially at night.

The kids had fun to.  My youngest stuck by my side and my oldest ran off with her cousin while the my middle child had fun with her friends.

30 Days of Gratitude Day 5

We had a frightening evening today.  I was relaxing and my oldest daughter came in our room frantic saying that her little sister threw up and a nickel came out.  I am so thankful for the grace of God watching over her.  Things could have ended up really bad but that was it.  I am grateful for God watching over us every day.  You never know what you may run across each day and we don’t know what dangers the Lord protects us from.

Here’s a picture I took of my youngest daughter one day when she was playing with an old pair of glasses in the morning room.  She’s so sweet and always getting into things (like swallowing money).  I didn’t even know where those glasses where.

30 Days of Gratitude Days 1 2 &3

A member in one of the forums I belong to,(http://lovethatshot.com) thought it would be a good idea to do a 30 days of gratitude project.  It’s not just a project for me but it is also a challenge for me to actually have 30 days of posts in one month.  I’m already behind but I’m also determined to complete this project.

One of the things that I am very thankful for is my three girls.  I was planning to do a separate posts for each of them but since I’m 3 days behind I’ll get it all in today.

My three girls are very different to say the least.  I have a teenager, an almost pre-teen, and a toddler.  (Lord have mercy on me!!! lol)  I’m always going in three or more directions, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.  I love my girls, even when they get on my nerves.  My girls can bring out the extreme emotions in me, from maddest of mad to joy overflowing.  They make me laugh, especially the youngest.  You should see some of her dance moves.  I am so proud of them. I thank God for blessing me with them and I pray that they will be successful in life and that the Lord will keep his hands on them and guide them through everyday.

The angry teenager (she's always ready for the camera)

The tween (she is ssssoooo into the tween Disney programs)

The toddler (little miss entertainer)

Creepy Crawlers

Today when I got home from the store, I saw this huge spider in my holly bush.  It was pretty scary looking I took a picture of it before I killed it.  Did a Google search on spider types and found it.  The name of the spider is St Andrews Cross Spider.  I was happy to read that it is a non-toxic spider.  They also mention that it is considered beneficial because the large webs catch flying insects like flies and mosquitoes.  Um….It my be beneficial but I really don’t I want them hanging around my house.

Welcome Fall

Fall is my favorite season of the year.  I love the crisp cool air it brings.  The trees are just beautiful.  Football season begins, and fall ushers in my favorite holidays, Halloween, Thanks Giving and Christmas (but not in that order).  Not to mention my birthday and my anniversary :-)

I hope to really get out and enjoy the different festivities this fall and we started out this past weekend with a visit to the pumpkin patch and of course I took plenty of pictures.  I’m still learning my new camera and noticed that most of my pictures came out over exposed, but that’s cool I still captured some great memories.  Here are some of our pictures from our trip.  Had a hard time deciding which ones to post so there are quite a few here.
